AJAX Tutorial: Nowdays, you can find AJAX topic everywhere. Yes, this method bring more advantage in internet word. Some people say AJAX is not new technology. It just a method. Other people say it is a technology. In this post, we talk about AJAX in preview.
AJAX is an acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. For me, it mean simple "empowered JavaScript". What that mean? Mmm.. before talk what AJAX exactly, do you ever see (or taste) Yahoo Mail! Beta Version? Or Gmail (not HTML version)? At that web page, without reload full page, we can jump between pages.
It is a technique use JavaScript as client side to make background server calls and retrieve additional data as needed. It update certain portions of page without causing full reloads. This is little example web that apply AJAX:
Google Suggest, check it out at http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1
Gmail, http://www.gmail.com
Google Maps, http://maps.google.com
I think AJAX is smart web application. More responsive web page. I remember it is like 'flash'! Yeah, we can build smart application like flash page. But, at AJAX, you don't need install any extra modules. AJAX runs all modern web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Opera. Following the anatomy of AJAX:
JavaScript, is essential of AJAX. We use for Client Side function and use Document Object Model (DOM) to manipulate parts of HTML page.
The XMLHttpRequest object enable JavaScript to access server asynchronously.
Server side technology to handle the request that come from the JavaScript Client, example PHP.

Tiger had donated his one good eye
Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi conquered world cricket's most fearsome bowlers with one good eye. He is no more but the eye will continue to live, because the legendary cricketer had decided to donate it. Dr Sumit Ray, vice-chairman, critical care medicine at Sir Ganga Ram hospital, where Pataudi breathed his last, confirmed this.
He said that the left eye of the legendary cricketer was retrieved within hours after his death - with the family's consent - and has now been preserved in the hospital's eye bank. Pataudi's right eye was damaged permanently in a car accident when he was 20 years old.
"Pataudi had expressed his desire to donate the eye about a week ago when he was fully conscious. On Thursday morning, his wife Sharmila Tagore informed us about it. Accordingly, the family's consent was taken and after his death the organ was retrieved," said Ray. He added that no decision has been taken yet on who the beneficiary would be. "His eye was fully functional and it can be transplanted," said another doctor.
The 70-year-old cricketer was diagnosed with a debilitating lung infection - idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis - at Sir Ganga Ram hospital few months ago. No reason could be cited for the disease, which is irreversible in nature.
"He was admitted on August 29. After more than two weeks when his condition deteriorated, he had to be shifted to the ICU. But he was able to talk and take light food. The condition deteriorated further on Wednesday evening when he said he was feeling drowsy and gradually lost consciousness. He passed away at around 5.55 pm on Thursday due to respiratory failure leading to cardiac arrest," said Ray.
Dr Neeraj Jain, treating doctor and senior consultant and chairman, pulmonology (chest medicine) said, "The possibility of lung transplant was discussed very early as soon as his condition worsened but he was not a suitable candidate for it."
Hospital sources said that Sharmila Tagore was staying at the hospital regularly for the last 20 days along with his two daughters. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor visited the hospital often. "The whole family was hopeful of good recovery and they kept encouraging Tiger Pataudi. He himself was cheerful and hopeful. But after he fell unconscious on Wednesday, there was sadness all around and the both the daughters couldn't stop crying," said a source.
Pataudi's body has been kept in the mortuary and is likely to be taken to Pataudi (near Manesar) early Friday morning for last rites.

KKR vs Som: Somerset beat Knight Riders by 11 runs, both qualify for CLT20 main draw
HYDERABAD: The Kolkata Knight Riders seem to have made a habit of making life difficult for themselves. On Wednesday night against Somerset in their last qualifying match of the Champions Trophy at the RJIC Stadium, they almost missed the cut but lived to fight it out for another day.
After conceding 166, the Knight Riders knew that they needed to get at least 153 to get past Ruhunu XI as the third team.
But for the heroics of Dutchman Ryan ten Doeschate, the Kolkata outfit would have packed their bags and left for home.
For the record, Somerset won by 11 runs, but both sides made the grade with the Knight Riders being Q1 and Somerset Q3.
Dashing Manvinder Bisla began with the chase with a flourish hitting Alfonso Thomas for a six, but was unfortunately run out in the next over and skipper JacquesK alliswas donein by left-arm spinner Murali Kartik in the same over to push the Knight Riders on to the back foot.
Manoj Tiwary chanced his arm a weebiton way to 27 off 23 balls (5x4) but the asking rate kept mounting. At 57 for four, things were not pretty rosy for Shah Rukh Khan's team, but ten Doeschate forged a 40-run partnership with Yusuf Pathan, who though was off colour.
The Baroda batsman seemed to have sustained a groin injury which impaired his movements. However, ten Doeschate made up for Pathan's inability with some big hits.
Electing to bat, Somerset began with a bang as Chris Jones and Peter Trego went after the Knight Riders. Though Jones (14) fell, Trego and Roelof van der Merwe carried on with the task of getting runs as quickly as possible. They race to 50 in 6.5 overs as both the batsmen cut loose.
The Knight Riders were, however, lucky to see der Merwe off when his powerful drive was snapped up by Kallis off left-arm seamer Jaidev Unadkat. His 40 came off just 25 balls with four fours and a six. His departure was no respite for the Knight Riders as Trego did not slow down the pace.
He found useful partners in James Hildreth (13) and Nick Compton (20; 10b, 2x4, 1x6) as Somerset ran up 166 in their 20 overs. Trego was run out on the last ball of the innings but he had done enough to put his team on top. His 70 came off 61 balls with nine hits to the fence.

Google+ opens to all, adds features
Google Inc and Facebook trotted out a variety of new social networking features in back-to-back announcements, underscoring their intensifying competition for Web surfers.
Google integrated its flagship search engine into its 3-month old social network -- with membership now open to the Internet public -- and expanded its "Hangouts" video-chat feature to allow mobile use and broadcasting.
The company said on its official blog its well-received Hangouts feature -- where up to nine people can link up and chat with a user on video -- will be available on camera equipped smartphones powered by its own Android software. Support for Apple Inc iOS devices "is coming soon", it added.
And a user can now host an online broadcast with this feature -- recording a session and broadcasting it live for public access online. Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am will host the first "Hangout on Air" on Wednesday, Google said.
"Hangouts should keep pace with how you socialize in the real-world, so today we're launching it on the one device that's always by your side: your mobile phone," senior vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra said on the blog post.
For its part, Facebook said it was introducing a new " ticker" on its users' home pages, providing real-time notifications of what friends are doing on the service. Facebook also revamped the service's main news feed to flag important items -- such as a new baby announcement -- for Facebook users who have not logged on for a few days. Facebook also changed the way photos are displayed on the site, increasing the size of pictures that appear in a users' news feed.
Facebook is the world's No.1 social networking service, with more than 750 million users. The company has rolled out a series of improvements to its service recently, many of which seem designed to match features Google has used to set apart its rival social networking service, Google+.
Google did not say how many people had signed up for Google+ so far, but confirmed the social network was now open to all, whereas previously it had been invitation-only. Analysts estimate upward of 25 million users have joined Google+ since its inception.
The company also made its search engine available from within the social network. Users can search from Google+ and get results not just on the network, but from the worldwide Internet.
Google's infant social network, which counts Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a member, has met skepticism so far. Some are waiting to see if it can maintain the rapid momentum of its first months.
If CEO Larry Page's brainchild -- which some say mimics better than Facebook the instinctive categorizing of friends that occurs in real life -- takes off, it will come at a pivotal moment for its bigger rival. Facebook is widely expected to go public in 2012.
"We're nowhere near done, but with the improvements we've made so far we're ready to move from field trial to beta," Gundotra said.
